a mini rant.

I'm new to this state, but the weather seems pretty typical right now. The sun here is strong enough to melt snow now, so we should be close to spring.

Yeah, but you folks in the subtropics don't really GET a Spring. It's not just about the warmer weather (although admittedly, that helps)... it's about everything waking up. Springtime up here just feels so darn wonderful, but it wouldn't feel as wonderful without a winter.

I'm from the midwest, so I agree with your sentiment about Springtime feeling great. Your overall statement, though, pretty much equates to saying that it's a good idea to hit your head with a hammer because it feels great when you stop.

Me and MacCrawdad live in the same general area, and I have to say, after living in Alaska, this is like a vacation... Not from the cold so much as the deep snow (Average 4' snowpack anywhere people don't usually travel) and the sheer length of the winter. Then again... I didn't have to shovel snow there. But that's mostly because I was living in an apartment in Alaska and the workmen did it, whereas here I'm currently freeloading at my Girlfriends house and am basically the workman... so yeah.

Hey Cam , this is the first time in a long time that we actually had a winter . Usually it's hot all year with a couple cool days mixed in during the winter months. Usually when we have a cool day it's warm and hot again within a couple days. This year we are having nice sool weather for several weeks in a row. I love the fact that it has actually felt like a real winter down here this year :) Looking forward to a cool down again in a couple days.

Bring on the cool :) It was about 80 again today.
