A Much Deserved Eulogy to AC

thanks for the explanation. I was just teasing though ;) :joke: :duh:

it was all well said :)

Geez, LB, I'm sorry, I just get a little intense sometimes, esp. when it comes to ethical issues. Hay, ah ain't no PETA, as YFB said, but I take stewardship of this earth to heart!!!! And, I guess, a bit pedantic!!! LOL
BTW, you inspired me to call my snail and 6 redeye tetras Turbo T and the MG's--how can you really individualize them? And the blind caves are "Spazz"!! Yes, all is good. Or well. Or whatever. :)

Going soft on him, eh? :D

Turn the page Rosita. More people will be here that will ask AND follow the advice.

I think he did it on purpose to see what kind of reaction he'd get. Too bad the mods can't back-track the little snit and report his cruel @$$.

Done and done, Bob--thanks. Thanks to all for letting me get it out! And, yes, there are so many who will gain so much from this site.

I guess we need the balance of yin and yang. No mas.

So vary true. I was at a huge lfs the other day and there was a feed store next door. We went in there to look at the animals and they had about 100 chicks for sale. Poor things will probably all be dead in a few weeks. I saw some ducks there too. They were only $3.50 a piece. I suppose if they were farm raised its not quite as bad, but I have a feeling they just went and found them selves some eggs, considering the price. I am no supporter of PETA either, but animals do deserve respect.

I also just read the post talked about above. Its too bad people are like that. Makes me think you should have to get a permit by sitting through a class or something before you can have pets. Of course, that would just make it worse for those who are good animal keepers (which I like to think most people do mean well and we only notice the bad ones).

I mean, c'mon, how many of you would bring a pit bull into
your home as a housepet? [I know, I know, many are sweet and loving, I
have a rescued 1/2 AmStaff who is basically pit bull, but they, by breeding
and general nature, are not trustworthy.

I'm sorry that your mom had a bad experience. I've owned 5 American pitbull terriers and 1 American Staffordshire terrier. I've known literally thousands of them since I used to show them.

Like any other large, powerful breed they require responsible owners. I've been living in the suburbs again for about 10 years and my dogs behaved better than the majority of those I see in the park or in the neighborhood. All of mine were obedience trained, passed the Canine Good Citizen test and were completely trustworthy.

Given the bad press these breeds have received, I'd have euthanized one immediately if I'd had any problems. Responsible breeders desire a people friendly, pet worthy animal.

When I encounter any dog, I watch the dog's body language to see if it is approachable; a dog's breed can only give you general information. Temperament differs from dog to dog the same way that it does for people.
