Reminds me I think they might be illegal in some places but on local kijiji the other ay there was a monkey for sale! He was very cute!
 
A Rhinoceros.

It'll keep the burglars away.
 
A giraffe
 
He can't have a giraffe if he lives on the Highveld - they get killed by lightening too easily. What about a cheetah? Fostering one?
 
I personally LOVE iquana's.. But they take a LOT of work.. They have to be held every day so they don't become mean.. And they have a very demanding diet of vegetables etc etc etc... When Merlin was alive she was like a cat.. She'd follow me around the house, beg for food, welcome me home at the door waiting for food.. I even had her potty trained.. (That took a while though)..
 
I have an idea... an Aligator Snapping turtle. LOL thatle keep the riff raff away lol.
 
ok thanks for the ideas but here are the problems:
Turtles, igaunas, sevals and foxes are illegal in south africa.
Sovran giraffe and rhino are a little expensive.
As for birds they always bite me and hiss so i can never get close to one.
Hissing cockroach that is really to exotic.
Monkeys are Way to expensive.
The weather is as hot as about 40 to 20.
It will be outside and i am will to put a fair amount of money in but notting crazy.
I like the sound of a pig tell me a bit more please.
 
Well since you are in Africa and iguanas are illegal.. How about a Theraphosa blondi. They are part of the arachnid family and native to your continent.
