A picture of my Cory holding eggs

This may be a bit off-topic, but is there a way to tell the difference between a male and a female cory? I added 3 emerald cories to my planted tropical tank about a month ago.

no problem about off topic thing, feel free to ask or pm me about anything. Anyhow female cories are just plain fatter. If you look at my first picture my male cories are long and skinny. Where as the females are fuller in shape. If you look at them from above it may be easier to tell. You should post a picture up and let us take shots at guessing. lol goodluck with your cories.

Definitely look from above to sex cories. The fms are clearly wider.

nguyendetecting- do you just try to hatch them out as pictured above? I have always pulled eggs to a 2.5 gal tank to hatch and have always added methylene blue to prevent fungus. Of course air and heat are added as well. Of course you need to remove the blue right about when you get wigglers.

I moved mine to a cup, well 2 cups and placed them in a 5.5 gallon tank. I used to use that blue stuff but it never really helped for me so I stopped. I suck out the fungus ones and put them in there own cup outside the tank... some seems to hatch still. But yea I use airstones also.

2 males to a female is a good ratio. If she starts to carry eggs you can really see her stomach bulg out. If you look at straight on like staring at her forehead, you'll be able to see her stomach lift off the ground because it's so fat. Well mine were always like that. goodluck.
