A Question Regarding Cory behavior

I have a cory in my 55 gallon tank that is acting a little strange. Normally they stay on the bottom except for an occasional dash to the surface. But one of them is now pretty much staying at the surface. It'll occasionally go down and swim with the rest of the group, but mostly it's staying high. There are no signs of illness, in fact the only thing that looks a little off is that it's stomach area is rather dark (they are albino cories). My water was changed a day ago and all the other fish are acting normal. Should I be worried?

Tank has 3 angels, 11 flame tetras, 5 albino cories, and about a million snails. The water was preconditioned. The temp is about 78. My test kit doesn't include a test for NO3 so I've never tested that one.

Oops, NH3 is the test I don't have. What good would a kit be with out the nitrite and nitrate test. I went and borrowed a test kit from the chem lab here, woohoo for still being in college and a chem minor and NH3/NH4 is .02

Does he look like he's floating up to the top? or is he deliberately swimming to the top? If he appears to float up to the surface anytime he stops swimming, it might be a problem with his swim bladder, either trauma or infection. Especially if your other fish aren't showing any signs of stress and your water quality is good.

Either way, I would just be diligent about checking the water quality for a while and see how it goes.

I honestly think it was just a quick little odd behavior, they're all back to swimming on the bottom and acting normal. I'll keep an eye on them and the water for the time being though. Thanks for the quick responses.

i have a cory that does this as well. it may be something as simple as constipation. try some shelled peas if it happens again. and for safety's sake, you can do a water change as well
