aah! another tank invader! looks like scorpion!

just lookin in my tank, and there is this wierd lookin insect crawlin around one of my rocks, it looks like some kinda scorpoin, about 3 legs on each side, and then a tail, like a schrimp, but its deffinantly not a shrimp, any idea ? is this some type of larva???

well, the threat is neutralized, i smushed it hehe, it had a long tail that looked just like a lobster tail, in the way that it is segmented, and at the end, it had like 4 fins that looked like a propellar, oh well,, anyone???

Most likely a mayfly larvae. Harmless, a food source for many native fish.

Maybe a damselfly larva

or dragonfly larva?

everyone who responded made this sound like your everyday type of thing but ummmmmmm how the heck woul something like this get into a tank?

It's fairly common to get hitchhikers in with new plants and sometimes you don't notice them for a while...

thats it! definantly the top picture, creepy! wonder what else lurks in my tank, makes me wanna buy some really agresive fish as a watch dog

i'd be disturbed as hell to find one of those in one of my tanks. those things are freaky.
