About snails...

I just got a snail a few weeks ago, and now he only move a few inches a night and does nothing during the day. Am I depriving him of something?

Adding grapes are just fine. Fruit in general will spoil faster then veggies and mess up your water. Think about your fridge. What goes bad faster? A fruit or a veggie?

Joshob what type of snail do you have? It is normal for snails to become dormant if your water is too cold. Most snails prefer water in the mid 70's. Have you seen the snail come out of it's shell? If you haven't seen it come out it may be dead and the fish move the shell around at night. Take the snail out of the water and take a look at it. If the body hangs limply out of the shell and smells horribly then it is dead.

Just a quik add-on about fruit...If left in too long it will lower your ph. I put in a piece of grape a couple of days ago,(only overnight)and the acid from it lowered my ph from 8.0 to 6.5! I know for the shell of a snail to become, and stay healthy and hard,a high ph is a must. And my red minor tetras dont seem to mind the high ph!!
