well the i just purchased a school of tiger barbs (sm.) recently and then added 3 (md.) more today. 2 of the 3 md. size tiger barbs acted perfectly fine with the community that was already there but the one other one keeps freaking out. well not really freaking out but he swims facing down or on his side, away from the school, and im worried that he might be seeing his end. could it be that its pregnant? a friend of mine says her grandmothers fish swam in those patterns when it was about to lay eggs but im worried that it doesnt apply to my tiger barb. does anyone know what i should? even though its one in many i still care for it.

Haven't heard of the unusual swimming and laying eggs.

You could have fish that are more stressed than the others from the recent relocation, or fish that are just not as well as the others, not to mention how well they took the acclimation to your tank.

Watch your parameters, keep up on your water changes and observe closely. Are these in a QT tank?

i have qurantined the one "odd swimmer" but no medications have been used. this morning he seemed to regain less stressful behavior and placed it back into to the tank to see if it schooled with the others. its still a little timid but im hoping that it was just minor stress from the relocation. ill be doing several water changes in the week JIC.
