AC 50 on a 20 gal?

ac 50's are actually the old 200's, sugested for 10-20gal which were the smallest before they made them weaker,.

Hi all,

I'm setting up a new 20g long tank and, rather than buy a new filter, I thought I'd use a spare Aquaclear 50 I have. The AC 50 is rated for up to a 50g tank. Now, I know the companies "over-rate" their filters, but do you think the flow would be too strong for a 20g tank? (For now, I'm planning on a school of bloodfins, a pair of borellis, and some cories.)

thanks! :thm:
I am using that exact same filter on a 20 gallon alone and have had great results :)

i have and older ac200 to buy replacement parts it takes the new 50 filter basket and impeller,.. i thought it was weird but that what it calls for

i bought the new 20 impeller for it and it don't even get the syphon started,..

says on the box also 50/200 before they remade them the 200 was the smallest one they had..
