Ok, first my question, then a funny story.

My question: I have two new inhabitants to my tank a small blue tang, and an even smaller oscellaris clown.

Upon introduction yesterday, they both gravitated toward this fairly popular blue coral (skeleton.) I have in my tank. The clown seems to have chosen to sit in one spot on it, fluttering back and forth... the tang seems to want to live in the skeleton. I can't get either of them to eat. (My damsel either.) I've tried frozen tang mix, a slice of raw shrimp, and flake that my previous damsels took readily. Should I just relax and keep trying or, is this something I should worry about? I've had these two new fish for about a day now.

Now a story...
I took apart my 100 gallon tank yesterday to catch 4 damsels to take back to my lfs due to bullying. (I only had the 4 damsels.)
So, I take all the rock, coral skeletons, and ornaments out of my tank shaking each one out and making sure it doesn't have any of my hermits or snails... place it into a large bucket of water and continue... once empty I catch my damsels. Upon catching the last one, I realize the count is only 3. 3 damsels, when there are 4. So, I go through and sift up the sand just to see if he got buried, anything... nothing. Looked in the buckets of water to see if he came out of any of the submerged rock... nothing. So, I put my tank back together, and take the 3 damsels back, pick up a small blue tang, and a clown...

Come home, start getting the two new fish acclimated. I made a joke to my girlfriend about the 4th damsel, how he went the way of Mr. Hoffa. I also said hey, if he appears, not only will he deserve to stay, but he'll have earned a name.

So, at about the moment I start to release the clown guess what I see... a dart of blue and a yellow tail.

He's got a little fin damage, but otherwise looks good. My guess is that he wedged himself in the blue coral piece I had, wedged in enough to survive being shaken twice to check for hitchhikers.

I still can't stand damsels, but he gets to stay.

Do you perhaps have a cave inside a rock? The damsels would choose to head for a cave for protection. I know sometimes when I introduce a new fish to my tank they are missing for a couple days at times. I finally found my Royal Gramma hiding in a cave once. A small openning but much larger inside, there he was just doing what is natural. :-).. He is now very much in the open.

Don't worry yet about the not eating. Yet I am not familiar with that blue tang of yours. Maybe he needs some special food.

There might be a cave in it, but I haven't found it yet then. I've got to say, that's a lot of bravery for one small fish, or instinct.

The tang does need some special stuff... I took home some frozen "tang" prep food, I also have some tiger shrimp to offer, scallop, cod, and just in case... I have some nori too. (More for my hermits.)
