Ack! A roach!!

irishspy

There is a stargate in my aquarium.
Yuck! I've just spotted a cockroach hanging around my aquarium! :eek3: :wall:
Gah, I hate those things! I obviously can't go spraying poison around it, but I don't want the darned creatures breeding.

Any suggestions? :help:

you could put some of those glue traps around the tank and make sure everything is clear behind the tank and you might want to blow a fan back there as i heard they need warm humid conditions to breed
most importantly though make sure you remove all food sorces

Its too late. For every one you see there are hundreds you don't see! (thats just what I've heard) I think you can set up some bait for them to take back to their nest but from what I understand an exterminator is best.

if you dont want to spray you could always use the good old fashion method, a rolled up newspaper.

Well, the one I found met his destiny with the vacuum cleaner. :tombstone: But, you're right, there's never just one. I don't keep food down there, but there are other aquarium supplies and a jug of water. The little monsters are probably looking for water.

I went to the market to get some traps -- those are going in and around the stand. But, I do think it's time to call a pest control guy. I'll have to make sure they know how to work around fish, however.

Oy. :angryfire:

go buy a tokay gecko or any house gecko and let a couple loose in the house, they will take care of them for you :)

Here in Montana there not easy to have. its to cold and there not native to here. thank god!!!!!! never seen one here but have in california. yuck!!

boric acid comes in a powder. you can pick it up at home depot. you can lay a line as a perimeter. the roaches dont die on contact, but they will take it back to their nests and share it with the other roaches. i use it at my house. its good stuff. just dont puff the dust too close to your tank and you are set
