I'm getting ready to buy 2 tanks. One will be in the 70 to 75 gallon range and the other will be 90 to 125 range. I have read the sales information about thye benefits of acrylic. But, I have never seen a set up acrylic aquarium. So, in the real world, is the acrylic as good as claimed. besides scratching, are there other areas of concern.

Thanks,

Rob :duh:

Acrylic tanks are really nice. Some of the benefits--easier to move! Same size tank, glass is way heavier. Glass can get scratches as well, but they are pretty easy to buff out of acrylic, so it's mostly a wash. There are some differences in terms of clarity--but if you go with a good brand (sorry I don't know any to recommend, but there are differences) you should be fine.

you can't get plecos if you have an acrylic tank. if they go to the side of the tank and make a little scratch in it, they will sit there and worry at it until you have a major divot or even a hole.
