Ok, WTH. I searched Maticora bivirgata and found the same pictures for the species that I found that under. How can it be 2 different species? The scientific names aren't even close, but the common name for both is the same. (I know common names are always confused)
Well I knew the common name already (Blue Malayan Coral Snake) so when I did a google search that's the latin name that came up first. After searching further Wikipedia says it goes by both names.
There are two very similar but different species. Maticora bivirgata is called the Blue Malayan Coral Snake. The Red-headed Krait, Bungarus flaviceps, is very similar. I believe this is a M. bivirgata however.
I just checked and the genus Maticora is now invalid and these species are now know as Calliophis. At any rate, Bungarus flaviceps is a different, although very similar species.
