Question; Would a 100% blue with a 100% white have the same effect as two 50/50's? I have a 125g long capable of running two 4' bulbs.

To answer your question:
You will see a difference with each set up. The 50/50 bulbs are brighter than the combination of the two. You will definitely see a much bluer tank with a combo set up versus using 2 50/50's. If it were my tank, I would use a 50/50 and a 6500k daylight bulb being as this is going on a FW tank. The 50/50 bulb will simply be used for color enhancement.

Think the 50/50 and the 6500k daylight will give me a soft light? I not looking for a bright effect, just something low but will still en hance colors.
First question would be, What are you planning on puting in the tank?
On my 55g FW tank, I had a 50/50 and a 6500k 4' bulbs. It was a little bright at first but nothing I would concider over done. I had live plants in the tank and the light was concidered minimal for the plants. I liked the look of the 2 bulbs.
