Hi all.

Just chiming in to say hi.

Myself and kids are pretty new to this. Both kids each have a 2 gallon tank. One has a male betta and the other has 1 mickey mouse platy. We've had both for about 6 months now and everything is going well. Regular vacs and water changes.

Anyway, one of my neighbors was moving out of their house and gave us their 20 gallon tall aquarium set. Whisper 30, gravel, some deco, hood and lamp. We set it up the tank and we're currently doing a fishless cycle (for about 2 weeks now). I love what the regs have to offer as far as advice as I've been reading these forums for a few weeks. I will be sure to follow all the advice that was given to others and take advice as they are given to me.

We don't know what to put in the tank yet, but my son and daughter want to move their betta and platy into the 20. Unless the betta got used to being alone, I think he'll be ok with the platy. We actually got both fish from the same LFS at the same time. They were both in the same community tank. We just don't know what else to put into the tank. We like the panda cories (they're pretty darned cute). I've been reading up on jm1212's post about stocking smaller tanks for ideas. Seems like a good start. But if anyone has other suggestions, we're all ears (er eyes).

Thanks

Joe

Welcome to AC and congrats on the new tanks! I would make a post in either freshwater newbie or general freshwater for more stocking ideas. A 20g gives you LOTS of options and should be really fun for you and the kids. Enjoy the site!
