Its time to upgrade my filtration system on my tank. Currently have an eheim 2215 running on a 72 gallon. Im looking to put a second eheim, either a 2213, 2215, or 2217 depending on finding a good price on ebay/amazon/classifieds. I think it would be convenient to be able to use the same filter media in both.

As for powerheads, I am new to this piece of equipment, and there's alot of information out there. I basically want to place them near the bottom to increase circulation and bring bottom debris up into the water column for filtration, right? what do you guys recommend? I just added 2 plecos (not commons, maybe vampire or snowballs, lfs said they would get 6-8in each, waiting on an id in pleco forum) what do you guys recommend as a setup? thanks!

if you just want to use them to increase flow look at the koralia style powerhead/pump

I'd go with a 2217 for the second canister on a 75, or an aquaclear 110 if you want a more cost-effective way to increase the flow and filtration.
As for powerheads, one properly placed would help quite a bit for pushing debris toward the filter intake/s for pickup.

Yeah the 2217 might be a good idea since its only like $20 more than the 2215. I was thinking two Koralia nanos since theyre only $14.99 at Dr. FS right now. I dont want to blast my fish around, just knock stuff off the bottom. thanks for the advice!

You can also swap out the 2215 impeller for a 2217 impeller to increase the flow rate a bit. They're the same size, but the 2217 has more fins.
