Adding fish to medicated tank

is it safe to add new fish to a tank which has ick medication in it?

because today ibought 5 new rummy nose tetras, i am scare dof putting them into my 25 gal cos it is currently being treated for ich with malachite green.
is it safe to add these new fish to the tank?
even though they are not sick, will the chemical harm them or not bother them?
i have no where for them to go

I'm a little curious to know why you bought them, but that is neither here nor there now. :(

I would never recommend putting brand new fish in a tank that is being treated with medications for a contagious disease, but since you have no other place to put them, it would appear that you have no other choice. :rolleyes:
 
Talk about the cart before the horse. No it is not safe unless you are trying to turn healthy fish into sick ones. Return the new fish and wait until the tank is cured.

Also there are much safer treatments for ich than what you are using. Salt and high temps or even Quick Cure and high temp.

I have to agree with previous posts. You REALLY need to invest in a Q-tank. But, if this is what you choose to do, then you should add them to your tank by floating the bags to acclimate them to the temp. Wait 10-15 minutes, add a little tank water and wait another 15 minutes. Do this two more times. Basically the same as any other addition to a tank, just take it a little slower. Good luck, though this is probably a little late. ;)
