Really? I'll buy that. I got five and threw them in my Boesemani tank. I assumed they got eaten but two did a fly-by while I was rearranging the driftwood yesterday. I've lots of algae -- grrr -- so they have tons to eat.

I find amano shrimp aren't anywhere near as good at cleaning algae as I'd hoped. My zebra snails, OTOH, do a fabulous job on eating algae...it's all they do! :)

What are your parameters? That will be a determining factor in whether you're ready to add any more fish. :)

BTW, do you still have a pleco in your tank too?

what do you mean like my water quality numbers?
ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

If your parameters are ok then adding more slowly would be good. Just remember that your tetras as schooling fish and won't be happy without friends of the same type.

last time i had my water tested was this past saturday and it was done buy the guy at the store. He said everything looked in order so i added those two head/tail light tetras. I havent tested again since, im waiting for my master test kit to arrive. Everything seems to be going good tho, i wasnt going to add anymore untill i get the test kit. I was just scoping out what i should look for when the time comes. So is the concensus that about 6 tetras are the limit and possibly a snail and shrimp?

Well, being told "everything looked in order" doesn't give you any useful information, it justs encourages you to buy fish at that store right then and there.

I'm glad to hear you have ordered a test kit. It's a very good idea to wait until you get it and test your water before you go back to the LFS to buy more fish. I'd recommend doing tests for a few days to get a good picture of what's going on in your tank, and make absolutely sure that you're fully cycled. If you aren't, then hold off on any more fish until the cycle is complete.

And I'm still wondering if you still have that pleco in there? If so, then that will definitely impact the number of fish you can add.

if i were you i'd exchange the 2 tetras -neon and white - get 3 more head and tail light tetras you'll get to see them school up and play little games of tag- much more fun to watch in groups of thier own kind.

then get 4 or 5 ghost shrimp

and if you want a little more variety add an apple snail they're facinating to watch too
