Adding new plants

Is this a 20 gallon tall aquarium? What brand is the light fixture? Maybe you could just put another on if it will fit and you can still access the tank without undue hassle.

Yeah, it's a 20gal tall. The light came in the kit I bought which is the ALL-GLASS aquarium kit.

So this tank is 20 inches long and 25 inches high? If so I am not sure it's worth getting another fixture. It would have to put out alot of wattage for the light to reach the bottom of that tank at decent intensity and there are not any high output flourescent lights out there in the 18 inch size that I know of.

So maybe add another identical light fixure if It is inexpensive and doable. Or locate the tank in a part of the room that receives some direct sunlight. Of course you may have algae problems.

that would double the light in your tank.

not a bad start!

check out your local hardware store, you might find something useful (and cheaper)

I'll probably add that along with the current fixture ...
Jason:

Please excuse me here but if you have the flexibility to add we really need photos (and another complete description for me as I am old and have lost track).

I have "been into this" complete replacement as well as addition "business" and experience may be of some help to you.
