Adding Peet?

My tap water comes out at 57.8 GH/KH and 7.0 PH. From what I've read though, the fish in my tank would likely be happier at a slightly lower PH though (maybe 6.8-6.9).

Would it make any sense for me to add peet to my filter? What could I expect if I did? Thanks!

No, any softer water than you have would be at risk of a crash as the KH is used up. You do not have much buffering as is. Don't do water modification unless you absolutely must (such as breeding some blackwater fish).
