Adding Sand to Substrate

In My 75 gallon I have about 50-60 lbs of crushed coral.

I was thinking of adding sand, and kind of mixing it in, but didn't know if this would make it too difficult to clean or not. I also was wondering if I would have a problem doing this with the fish in the tank.

(catching 20 3-4" cichlids is a pain!)

Should be fine just be sure to rinse the sand well first.

What do you do, lower in a few cups of rinsed sand at a time, and just mix it in...? will really cloudy water affect the fish, and the oxygen in the water?

I just don't want to lose a tank full of fish I can't replace, just trying to pretty up the look of the substrate...

Also, I know gravel vaccing sand is different.. .So how do you do it if it is a mix of crushed coral and sand?

wash it first. the sloudy water shouldnt effect the fix or o2 levels. gravel vac you just go over the top sucking up any dirt.
