I would like to add some snails to my pond, yet I dont know much about snails. I read the the most recomended snail are the apple snails because they dont reproduce like crazy. I know that many stores sell the ramhorns snails, which I know nothing about.

What snails would you recommend, my temp is 26 degree celcius (78 f or so), its 300gallons and its made of concrete. Almost no real plants since some fish eat them.

I had a ton of small snails of some type breed in my patio pond. They came in on plants or in the water I dumped in there. Not really a pest as they just grazed on the algae but did little to stop it's growth.

I live in the Appalachian Mountains of the US.

I did have some big snails three years ago, one of which is still alive in an indoor aquarium.

They did not reproduce and seem long lived.

This looks like a big apple type snail.

It was and still is also too big for the goldfish to eat.

Apple snails would be good. Pond snails multiply like crazy and they can have a detrimental effect on filters and pumps if you have them and don't check the filters and pumps often. In your location, I would think almost any snail would do well.

Thanks

Thank you all for the information!!!! aquariumfishguy; thanks for the link, the info is great, so ill be checking it more thoroughly to see what snails I should add.
