The stones are slate with many hiding spots and I have sand at the bottom. Currently I have in the tank 2 Acei (approx 3-3 1/2 inches) 2 rustys and 2 Hongi (approx 2 1/2-3 inches) 2 hybrids (approx 3-3 1/2 inches ) and 1 red zebra (approx 2 1/2-3 inches).
When I was at the LFS today I saw some pearl zebras, some OB zebras and some Albino zebras, all of which were from 1 1/2-2 inches)
I thought these might add the color I needed for the tank.
Do you think they would survive.............

Thanks

Hello sounds nice but the Noah's Ark stock list usually intels a few problems within the African cichlid family, to be more comfortable for your fish and the pressure of aggression i would bump your species a bit..

Like 5 fish per species for example - 5 acei's, 5 rusty's, 5 hongi's, i am assuming your hybrids are of zebra nature and should mesh well with the rest of the community as for the red zebra's i would add 3 more and i would say that those albino, OB or pearls would be sweet zebra's to add to your existing zebra..

Like ChrisK stated re-arrange your rockwork so that everyone will need to form new territories.. Good luck and have fun..

Yep me three - round off your existing groups of acei, hongi and rusties to five each, no more than one male ideally. Your already in hybrids should be okey dokey in there as well.

Thanx Pittbull ChrisK and Coler

Pittbull, if I read correctly you're saying bump up the 3 types that I have and then add 5 each of the OB, pearls and albino. Am I right? That sounds like it would brighten up the tank, but that would give me over 30 fish in there. Wouldn't that be toooooo much?

Invisioned stock list

5. Acei's
5. Rusty's
5. Hongi's
2. Hybrids
5. Zebra's (mix)

optional 3 Synodontis Multipunctatus

for a total of 25 fish (cichlids and catfish) if you place 5 of each Zebra you may be pushing it a little too much..

Yes it would be a lot of fish in that setup but with Africans and aggression especially Mbuna its more wise to add plenty of different targets so that one fish is not taking the brunt of the aggression that will be given out on a daily basis..

Also be mindful that your bio load will be high and if your system is neglected via water changes and aquarium filter maintenance it will be disastrous.. so stay on top of the water changes via weekly 40 to 50% ..

Enjoy my friend..

Hi!
I give a perfect 10 to Pittbull's "invisioned stock list"!
(Invisioned...Wow, I love that word!)
