I was stating that it looked like a puncture wound. Sorry if i affended you, but i didn't call you a F*N B$##% so watch your mouth.
I wish you had just said that then. Listen, I apologize. I am just in a REALLY bad mood. I have been fighting a bacterial infection in that tank. I have been posting. I've been posting for weeks. Not only to this site, but to others. I've been dealing with my LFS. I'm looking for some place to do a necropsy on one of my fish so I can rule out fish tb and not worry about it being zoonotic. The frog looked at worst like it MIGHT be shedding to the naked eye. I used a special lens, saw what he looked like in the picture and was horrified. No hard feelings, ok?
Take care,
Mary.

PP, that was pretty crass. Some posters deserve a jab or two, mduros' post didn't. Try a little more sensitivity when dealing with someone who has just lost a pet. I only roast on people who don't care about their pets, sort of giving the message "If you don't care, don't post here." It helps keep the trolls out.

mduros, if you are fighting a bacterial infection, etc. your frog probably had bacterial lesions (sores) that were colonized by opportunistic fungus. That is exactly what it looks like. You should have used pima & mela in conjunction. I wouldn't use salt in an adf tank.

Did you remember to remove your bio-filter so it didn't remove the medication?

Are there more animals in the tank?

If you have space, I would suggest tearing down the tank, whatever you have in there is nasty enough where I would want to make sure it's gone.

Quarantine critters. Bleach non-porous decorations in a 10% bleach solution(dip the plants), rinse very well afterwards. Boil any driftwood or substrate. Re-cycle the tank.

That's the only way you're going to ensure there is no recurrence.

Thanks Graphic. I did use Mela and Pima in conjunction in the tank weeks ago upon the first sick fish. Gourami w/bloat. Since then I have treated with an anti-biotic (forget the name at the moment) and erythrmyacin gel based food, put a few drops in with the food and hope that they eat some, and force fed the sick ones with the gel. I use ugf so there is no filter media to remove. My ugf broke last weekend and I did tear down the tank yesterday and replaced the filter. I did not clean or do anything drastic to remove the bacteria because my LFS advised me not to, I had called them to find out if they had Bio-Spira and to get any other advice they might have for my tear down project. They are very good and generally I trust them, so I listened to them. However, after the frog last night, and you confirm what I thought, I should have just done a major job of bleaching, boiling, and then re-cycling the tank. Other people here have recommended that, too.

And I don't know what I was thinking when I put some salt in the quarantine's water because I keep the Mela and Pima on hand... All I know is that I wasn't thinking straight. But I think the little guy was on his way out anyway.

As for the rest of the fish in the tank, 3 gouramis, 3 rainbowfish, 7 tetras, 1 bolivian ram, 1 adf, 2 yoyo loaches, 2 dwarf albino bristlenose plecos, 1 horse face loach. Casualties now include 2 gouramis, 4 bloodfin tetras, 3 neon tetras, 1 dwarf frog. I think that's it.

Thanks again for the advice.
Mary.
