advice for new fish if any

Last time I checked , this is a forum for newbies. And yes Dorkfish, you were flaming a newbie wheather it was intentional or not. My guess is that you meant no harm. However, he is posting because he has questions that need answers. You can easily get your point across without sounding like you are mad. I believe he explained that he plans on getting new homes for some of his fish and giving away others when they get too big. He plans on upgrading when he moves to his new home. So given that information in my opinion his fish will be fine in that size tank until he upgrades to a bigger tank in a year or two. I think we need to listen to the whole question before we answer the question. Just my opinion.

so given that it is safe to house the clown knife in the tank for a year would there be anything that i could add? i no longer have the dinosaur bichir or the iridescent shark.

Not really. The problem will be that the knife really will need the cleanest of water possible to not be stunted, and the only safe companions will be other big fish--anything small may be eaten.

And I have seen clown knives hit 38 inches in a tank--several that were turned into an LFS. They'd been in an indoor pond, and then the owner moved and couldn't take them along.

well, if you have a fish that gets to big for the tank, it's not to wise to put more fish in there.

Our Irridescent Sharks are about 36" and 28" and still growing....was a good decision to get rid of yours before you were too overcrowded...

I think we need to answer the whole question vice scrutinizing the responses. He is keeping an 8" knife in a 30 gal, finally getting around to a 75 gal, which is where it should hav been for the first year, at max, of it's exsistence. A bigger tank in a year or two??!!?? Well, hope he feeds sparingly...wait won't that be stressful?

Sorry, but Dork was more than correct, the flame is more than deserved.

Dude you should totally get a school of monos to put in there...that'd be tight. :thm:

Monos get big and are extremely active and need lots of space for a school. Plus, they are at minimum brackish and preferrably saltwater fish as adults.
