Hello. I have just bought a Juwel tank. Model is Rio 125, volume approx 125 litres, measures 81X36X50 cm. and it is standing on its own Juwel cabinet. The tank is placed on ground floor, on a concrete tiled floor. It has about 25 kg of gravel on the bottom.

Everything went fine, but when I filled it and was almost close to the top, I noticed that the level was not even, ie, watching the tank on a front view, the water level was not even, there was a difference of about 1 cm between the two opposite edges. Of course it was a problem with the floor (I checked the tank for possible asimmetries and found none), I live in England and here old houses often have problems with uneven floors.

I almost emptied the tank and put some cardboard under the feet of the stand to be lifted, until the level seemed approximately fine.
Then I filled the tank again, and unfortunately I noticed that there is still a slight asimmetry in the water level, like 3 mm difference.

When I completely fill the tank and water is above the frame, this is not noticeable anymore, so it is not an aestethic problem. But of course I am concerned from a safety point of view.
My question is: can I leave it this way or problems with leaks and breakage are going to arise? I am pretty frustrated at the idea of emptying/refilling again, and also concerned that maybe putting stuff under the stand feet might be more harmful than beneficial in the long run.

Please, any advice?

Thank you!

Barbara

Sounds like, as you say, unevenness in the floor. Cardboard isn't going to help with all that weight. I don't think that amount of unevenness represents a real safety problem, especially on a concrete floor. I'd just fill it so that you don't notice the level problem, so that it doesn't keep driving you crazy. Most floors aren't truly level. Some are worse than others.

I agree that cardboard isn't going to do the job. With that kind of weight on it it'll get compressed to the thickness of paper. I suggest putting shims under it instead. A 3mm difference is harmless.
