I have just bought a new ten gallon.....my two other tanks include a 55 gallon and a 40 gallon. I am used to caring for and stocking larger tanks and I'm afraid I will overstock my new little ten gallon!

What would be a nice assortment of fish to have in this ten gallon? I am planning on some hardy live plants and flourescent lighting obviously.

Thanks! :p

Those are all good suggestions ! You could also do an assortment of Tetras of varying colors so that you have a nice contrast. You might also consider doing a tank for a couple of very small cichlids like some Rams, maybe ?

In any case, have fun and choose what YOU like ! :)

I have a cory cat, a C.A.E. (who is not nearly as vicious as they are made out to be....yet...), and a VERY young oranda goldfish in my 10 gallon. The oranda won't be staying for very long, I know, but until he outgrows the tank, it's a nice look (and it's a coldwater setup, which no one else has brought up yet that I can see). Just another option...

If you are scared about overstocking, write down what you want and put it through us. You will get several ppl looking at your stocking wish list, and if it doesn't work, at least one of us will tell you =)

As a side note, IMHO a pleco of any type will never do well in a 10 gallon tank. Avoid those =)
