This is a pretty specific question.

I need an algae eater for my african tank.

Notice it's a swamp tank! it has a pH of 6.0ish, so no rift lake dwellers ..and I don't need anything like a two foot long pleco in there. But I also want the fish/invert to be African...

are there any snails or algae eating fish that are indigenous to central west Africa?

I tried researching it, but I didn't find anything

Thanks

I have been using rubber lipped plecos in all my african tanks, they do a great job on the algea and only get to a max of 5-6 inches and do not turn into poop machines. These are not african but do a great job.

Elbow grease and control the nutrients and lighting.
