African cichlids

I blanch mine in hot almost boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then let cool.

I always buy organic (from Whole Foods, Central Market) and feed raw. Cooking removes vitamins from the veggies, but, organic is the key so that they don't contain pesticides or God knows what other harmful chemical.

I only feed them zucchini, and all I do is wash it when I get it home from the grocery. I modified a heater clamp to hold the chunk of squash on the side of the tank.

Little buggers (especially the venustus) love it, and the bristle-nose pleco has to run them off.

I occasionally drop pieces of spinach lettuce in the tank, and wash it in the same manner.

Mine eat leftover raw zucchini from my pleco. They also love leaf lettuce, I rip it into bite-size peices, put it in a small tupperware of water and microwave it for around 15 seconds, just to get soft.

my africans love frozen peas. all i do is remove the outer skin and nuke for about 10 -15 seconds b4 droping them in the tank and then i watch the carnage take place....lol.. the removal of the skin is a PITA but it sure beats takin a gravel vac to the tank to get the skins out later.
