Hello. I received two ADFs for Christmas, the poor little guys are in a little Brookstone tank.

I purchased the largest tank I could (these guys are on my desk at work), a 1.5G cube tank. My intention is to use Amazonia soil on the bottom of the tank (probably the powder) and put one or two plants in there. I'm still trying to figure out which plants are going to fit well, I have about 5-7" of depth to work with and low light conditions. I'm not opposed to adding a light on a timer if necessary.

I ordered a master test kit from API, from what I've read this should take care of pretty much all my needs for a relatively simple setup. I will be using no filter and making regular water changes weekly or whatever seems to be the best frequency based on the results of water tests. I've also got a little 25W water heater for the tank to keep the temp between 70-75.

I have seen mixed information about handling the habitat for these frogs. Some say that it's enough to do frequent water changes and not worry about cycling a tank. Just treat some tap water with something and leave it out for 24h to reach tank temp, then do a 50% swap. Other people say you should cycle the tank. I'd certainly prefer to go the non cycling way, assuming it won't cause problems.

Any tips, ideas (what type of plant/s?) or scoldings are welcome. I appreciate the help!

Thanks,
Bill
