I started my tanks over two weeks ago, and made the mistake of not dong much researching before stocking my tank. Lesson learned. My 6 gallon tank is cycling right now with 3 glofish (I know these are a touchy topic, but I have them now), and two african dwarf frogs (one recently passed, or is almost gone).
So this morning I noticed one frog floating on the top, and knew he was about gone. So I took him out of the tank in his own container. His skin was shedding yesterday, probably because of the levels of ammonia. I took my water to the fish store (a privately own, not a chain). My ammonia levels are high, and he said I should see my nitrates & nitrites start rising in the next few days (or something to that effect). Then they should start falling. Of course not to add anything else to the tank. Then bring my water back up for another test in 7-8 days.
So my question is this. I have a healthy frog still in the tank. The guy at the fish store told me to keep the frog in the tank. Is this okay? Should I take him out and put him in dechlorinated water, or is he just going to die no matter what I do?
I feel bad for my frog, and made a big mistake....I hope I can save the one I have left!
Thanks for any help!
