african dwarf frogs?

i believe she was saying be careful to not accidentally purchase ACF (african clawed frogs) which get large and are commonly found as albinos as opposed to purchasing ADF's which are typically brown and stay small. They chytrid disease is not transferrable to your fish, just other frogs.
 
The Albino Clawed Frogs are commonly sold as Albino Dwarf Frogs. Albino Dwarf Frogs do not exist. Thanks msjinkzd.
 
My little guys have never grown much larger than 1 inch, or so.
I can't wait to see your photos!
I called about a 29 gallon tank today on Craigs List. I am crossing my fingers that I get it!

Is it an Albino? I got rid of mine at 3" (body length) because it was eating my fish. I rescued 1 more that are already well over 1".
Sorry for the previous post, everything makes sense in my head. I read it, and it made no sense in print.
 
Mine are African Dwarf Frogs. I guess if you stretch the legs out they are longer, but when they are sitting on the bottom of the tank they are really tiny. They are extremely docile. They never go near any of the fish in an agressive manner!

Skillful, so sorry to hear you can't get these little guys anymore in Japan. They really are so fun. One of mine is molting right now. I love to watch them during this phase. They look like they are trying to pull a shirt (their skin) off over their head:)
 
i got a couple of ADFs for my 10 gallon a few weeks ago. they both had the mentioned fungus disease and died after about a week:( didnt affect my fish at all(6 harley rasboras+1 betta)
they are really cute though.

Mine too, it was particularly depressing because they were very active and ate well. All these threads make me want to get a couple new ones but i'm afraid the guppies will bother them.

if there is no such ting, how would they get big...

after doing plenty of research, most shops, around here at least, have ADF's and are honest about what they are selling you, if you have had a problem with a certain LFS then be specific but dont generalize with a completly non researched statement.

anyway the frogs will be picked up from texas tropical and marine, a reputable LFS here in texas, i will take photos when i get them.

didnt mean to rant about the previous post, just dont like unresearched information, i get so much good infor from most posts here..

The wording may be a little off but she isn't wrong. African Clawed frogs are often sold under the guise of African Dwarf frogs because they look similar when young. But the ACF will quickly grow large and eat the other fish in the tank. So if you see anything labelled "Albino african dwarf Frog" be careful because they are ACF.
 
My frogs are in with guppies and live very peacefully together. The frogs never bother anyone.
