I was just curious, is it ok to place african frogs in with any fish at all? I have gone to stores and seen them placed with lots of different types of fish. But just because the store does it, doesn't mean its right.

What you have to look out for if they are African Dwarf Frogs and not African Clawed. The clawed are carnivorious (sp?) and grow rather large. I have two of the dwarf in my 10 gallon with other fish with no problems. Maybe someone with more info will reply.
This is a pic of one of mine. It's maybe 1/2". I have had him for almost 2 years.

Dwarf frogs are not very good competitors. It is not easy to guarantee them sufficient food in a community tank. It can be done, but it requires care and attention.

I found that feeding them 1 hour before I turn the lights on. And 1 hour after I turned the lights off worked for mine.

If you decide to get some be prepared for one thing though. They do hide most of the day. I have one that stays hidden most of the time. The other is always out, but sits around the bottom.

what do you feed your frogs? I have wanted to get some for a while but didnt know what they ate. No sense getting them and starving em.

Be warned that Grow-a-Frogs are Xenopus laevis, the African Clawed Frog.

This having been said, Grow-a-Frog food would be among your best bets for keeping them well-fed!

I feed them this and Tadpole Bites. I vary between the two. Mine will also eat some flake food if it makes it to the bottom.

I had a dwarf frog a long time ago who eventually died of old age, and I just recently purchased a new pair. The old grew to be pretty large (an inch and a half), and very fat, and he loved to eat. He would compete with my fullgrown angelfish for food.

I've only had the new ones for a week, so they're small and shy and not into the tank routine yet. But I've had luck feeding sinking shrimp pellets, tubifex worms, and betta pellets if the frog will come to the surface (my old one used to sometimes).
