african Malwai tank mates

Ok, saw many types of fish today... A few posts mentioned juvies for tank mates. How big would you say the juvies should be? Keep in mind the OB is apprx 4" big. How many people shop online? and which shops would be recommended?

With adequate rockwork and nooks the big fish can't fit in, juvenile fish should do fine.

Online dealers are an excellent source of tropicals. Second only to live auctions at fish clubs. Some Tropical Retailers can be excellent as well.

I'm not sure what the rules are on recommending online dealers, but Wet Thumb Aquatics, Neptune, and FryBabies are good, to name just a few. There are many reputable online mail-order breeders.

Great, thanks for the info. Just got some rocks and what looks like an artificial mushroom on steroids. Little-r fish would have plenty of spaces to hide. Thanks again.

none of my lfs have syno's, what other types of cat fish or bottom type feeders can you keep w/these guys. The pet shop worker says blue channel cats are fine, but no plecos. On another thread I heard plecos do fine.. any suggestions?

BN plecos are usually fine with africans. I have one in my tank and the fish totally leave him alone. I wouldn't add channel cats due to their large size.

I would stick to synos or BN plecos they are both hardy enought o be able to take aggresive fish and the hard water. I have also heard a lot of people keeping larger clown loaches in with less aggresive africans. I haven't personally so i can't comment.
