So I decided to make a thread on my 55 gallon African river biotope. This tank is being setup as a 55 but I'm going to upgrade to a 75. Here's the stocking list
6-8-Congo tetras
3-minnows
1-cutteri cichlid
1-leopard ctenopoma
1-African knife
1-African butterfly
1-Senegal bichir
1-delhezi bichir
The tank will have several manzanita branches with river rocks. For plants I'll have several types of vals, anubias, and African water fern. I'll be using white sand. I got the first piece of manzanita today, but until I get my stand finished I won't be able to truly set it up with sand and everything BC right now its just sitting on some plywood.

A 75 will be a bit tight for the knife and the delhezi. And the minnows and tetra could easily be eaten by either one of them when they are adults. The butterfly might get eaten by one of them too. You could leave the knife and delhezi out, and get 2 or 3 senegals instead. Something to think about. What kind of minnows?

Delhezis don't get that big though. I actually thought they were smaller than Senegals. The minnows are some kind of shiners and are pretty big.

Delhezi will grow to around 14 or 15 inches, average. Maybe bigger, maybe smaller. They are also very thick, and produce a lot of waste. They will fit in a 75, but with everything else you are wanting to keep in there, I'm not sure if it's a good idea. That's why I said you might want to leave it out. Senegal will get to about 12 inches at most, usually. Same about the knife. It will fit, just not sure if it's a good idea with all the other fish.

I do know someone who has almost the exact same setup on a different forum and it works for them.

I agree. I've seen knives eat 3" to 4" fish. I think that tank will get cramped.

What kind of 3"- 4" fish though BC congos are wide bodied.

Johnathon, I'm sorry, but sometimes, recommendations aren't what you want to hear. You can argue against them if you wish, but if you're going to ask for feedback, be prepared to hear things that aren't going to be what you hope.

I'm totally fine with suggestions. I'm not arguing I asked a question. There are varying opinions on different setups and not everybody will have the same opinion I've figures this out by being on various forums. I wasn't really asking about the stocking. I had the stocking figured out on another forum. I was just making a build thread to show progress. No setup is full proof that why I do and always will have a backup plan.
