African Sicklets?

Heh, I guess the wife would have a hard time believing the old line "it followed me home, can we keep it?" if you brought home some yellow labs and electric blues.

Someday when I have a place of my own, I hope to get a nice 75g tank of Malawi and Mbuna Chicklets err Sicklids err... you know... those fish.

What size of a tank do you have and what kind of catfish? how big are these cichlids? I'm not an expert and not sure exactly what you have yet but I have my doubts you have a male and a female of the same species, just don't sound right to me for some reason. a lot of "african cichlids" sold in the stores are mixed breed Mbuna from lake Malawi in Africa. do a search of Mbuna and see if you can find something. the best method would be if you could post or email some pictures of them. do you have or can you get a digital camera? KYle

Captndan, dont have the guppies anymore. This was last year sometime, I had atleast 15 at one point, but something went wrong and they just started dying off. But this was even before I really got into learning about how to maintain a tank. But in my experience, guppies are pretty hardy. Everything else I would buy and put into that tank would die in a couple of days if not the next. I really didnt know what I was doing.

Snakeskinner, I have a 20gal tall. I have a (think its spelled) Pictus Catfish. Plan on getting a bigger tank really soon. The Cichlids are about 4 inches. The guy told me that the purple one is a female and the silver one (the better looking one) is male. He told me that they had babies in his 55 gal, but they would pretty much just eat them up. Sorry I cant post a pic right now. I have a scanner thats not compatable with my new os. But if I can anytime soon I will. I would like to know more about them.

Thanks again guys, I havent had much time lately too do much research of my own. But at least now I know what the hell these fish are! lol
