Africans killing each other!!

I have mbunas in my tank. This is my second set up with them. Starting them together young has helped. I think a little over stocking is good.

There are also some that will allow only one male. They will go at all costs to kill the male that looks like them. They do not even have to be the same, just looks simular. I have had fish that got along great for months and then one would just have the urge to attack the other one. You might find yourself having a second tank to put the trouble makers in or give them to a friend or trade at a LFS.

Having lots of hiding places is important. Something that has helped me is re-arranging the rock work. It also maybe too late to try to add more fish.

You didnt say which were dead,Is it the peacocks?
usually theyre not rough enough to mix with mbuna.
You should decide whether you want a mbuna tank or a peacock tank then start picking species.
A mixed mbuna tank can work if all the fish look different enough from each other to not seem like threats,or potential mates.

there is NO fremales only males thats your problem the fish store u went to i recomend never to go back ive had my africans for 2 years now i been through what your goin you better get rid of some of those males and get you sum females before they all kill themselfs im speakin from experience with the africans ive had

Dont know what you guys are talking about but its suggested either ALL MALES or 1M to at least 3F. I have all males, as does my LFS owner and a few friends. Every know and then I'll get a male that just doesnt get along with the others. No problem, I just trade him in for another. Ive done this three times and the replacement fish had joined the community just fine.

Hiding places are the key so I would definitely keep the caves and maybe add more.
