I have finally got things pretty well finished. Thank You to everybody who offered advice and suggestions.
I have the water chemistry pretty well behaving - it has been almost two weeks now, and things still look stable. It hadn't done that before. I changed to real plants, and I have switched from flake food to pellets since the fish were attacking the large flakes and crumbs were going everywhere. I have changed around my fish line-up and much more attention is now paid to bottom feeders.
The Clown Loaches are a trip! A few of them had an identity crisis of sorts this afternoon and were shoaling with my red tailed shark.
I attached a small picture of the tank as it is today. I just hand held the camera in a dark room to reduce reflections. That is also why I used a higher camera angle. Hard to see any of the fish because of the small pic, and the really slow shutter speed required. But you get the idea.
