AGA Contests Results Are In

yeeesh Amano's like the Simon Cowell of planted aquaria - just harsh!

Holy shhhhhh Leopardess! As always (maybe a bit more) your tanks look awesome! :bowing: If only I could get my tank set up "just for a picture" I'd leave it that way!
Yeah, I like how your 10 gallon "doesn't look natural" but the glosso should be trimmed  I think the glosso looks more natural with some growing upward.

I think it is the Japanese way to be blunt with criticism and slow to praise in this type of setting.

Considering the source, ANY criticism on detail should be taken as constructive feedback. This is Mr. Amano we are talking about here!

It's one of those subjective things I have trouble beating to death or critiquing.

It's easy to say NH4 causes algae though........
That's why I'm not a judge.
I'm my own worst critic on my own designs.

You are correct in that respect Torf! I should've read who's sig it was. But I still like it :D

Judges, like ref's and police, are always hated:-)
I think he was saying what hew felt, there's a very good translator Tomoko who I know that did the translating.

Rather than telling what is wrong, I try and make sonme suggestions that would improve a tank's design without altering the orginal intent.
You can always find that area no matter what level.

The nicer the tank, the more harsh/picky many are.

I'm blunt about things also on the web, but these topics tend not to be nearly as subjective. In person, neither of us are blunt.

That also needs taken into account.
