Moo, 3-3.5 months of age and they will begin laying eggs, thats not a long period of time, they are one of the quickest maturing cichlids I know of.
sorry, I was thinking of the bolivians, which i've been told can take up to a year. Was I misinfromed?
Even a year isn't that long, thats about average for most of the larger cichlids. Some discus strains can take up to 2 years for the males to mature. Bolivans are borderline dwarves, so they may fall more into the larger cichlid catergory for most things.
