Ok, my new black moor seems to be a horrible bully, chases every fish he sees in the QT tank constantly and headbutts them (tankmates are 3 small cories and the little fantail, temp is 75F, 10g tank and the moor is the largest fish at 2.5" total length), sometimes he even goes as far as to bite them. I've got him separated into a floating basket to keep him from stressing everyone to death at the moment. Is there anything I can do to calm him down? Or should I see if petsmart will let me exchange him?

i would exchange him for another i have had very aggressive goldfish like him and as they got bigger it just increased the violence on the other goldfish. i end up having 5 25 gallon tanks with 1 bully goldfish in each because they cant be kept safely with another fish. but i wont put them in my large tanks or no one will have fins left or they are rammed non stop. i havent had that problem with any of my blk moors it has been with 2 orandas, 2 ranchu's and 1 shubunkin they just have anger issues lol

show him a frying pan with herbed butter

My black Moor was like that - when I first got him along with a gold fantail and a calico fantail, when he was 2 inches total length. I'm curious as to how long you've had the black Moor? After a week or so mine calmed down. If you've not had him long, give him a chance to adjust (:

I've only had them a couple days, but that little fantail won't last a week with that kind of abuse. I called petsmart, and I'll be taking the moor in to exchange for a smaller one today. I like the little fantail too much to be taking chances with him.

Ok, I exchanged the moor for a smaller one with a huge tail. This one doesn't care one bit about any other fish in the tank, just goes along doin' his own thing.
