Hi

I had two platys and two angels which I introduced to the tank at the same time 2 weeks ago.

But last night I found one angel dead. My wife said she had seen the platy going for it earlier.

I said i didnt think that was it as I believed that platys where very docile/friendly fish. Then just before i went to bed I saw the platy attack and kill the remaining angel fish.

Has anyone seen this before as I'm abit confused.

The only thing that springs to mind is the attacking platy had Ich which i treated and I'm not sure if this turned him into a dereanged killer

i have the same problem with one of my redwag platys...it keeps attacking the other 2 platys, the redwag is only just a big larger than the other two, and keeps chasing them around and you can notice the others swim away quickly when it comes around.

i was thinking of getting more of the calmer fish to maybe, diffuse the redwag's authority...also, all the fish are male, so probably a territorial problem.

This is just a thought. I have an angel and platys in my 45g, and recently I removed the female platys to another tank to give birth. When it was just the males left, one of them tried desperately to mate with my angel. I was really worried that they would chase him to death; this is what can happen if you only have one female platy with several males, so why not another fish they're trying constantly to mate with? Eventually they left the angel alone, but for a while I was sure I was going to have to separate the platys from the other fish until I returned the females to the tank. If you keep platys in a one male to two females ratio, usually they are very good natured fish. I'm so sorry you lost your angels.
