Everytime I turn around I am having another issue with my planted tank.

I am having a green water issue so this is what I did

I did a 50% water change, a black out for 3 days then did another 50% change. I also cut my lights hours down to 7.

Well its back and I have no ideas. I was having other type algae issues and they have seemed to stop except for this and some hair algae.

I have a 29g with a 55w Ahsupply kit, I have DIY CO2 running through a powerhead, I stopped dosing flourish,

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Cause: Suspended microscopic algae
Excess light, especially direct sunlight
Too many fish
Excess nutrients
Excess wastes Green water is usually due to either a significant excess of light (particularly direct sunlight), or a major water quality problem. Although it may look terrible, it is not toxic to fish.

Cure: Blocking out light completely
Diatomic or micron filtration
Introduce daphnia to the tankWater changes will reduce green water temporarily, but will not eliminate it. Completely blocking out all light for three days or more is very effective. The use of a diatomic filter will remove the suspended algae. If daphnia are available, they will quickly eat the microscopic algae, then in turn be eaten by the fish.

Sunlight comes into the room but not directly. In another corner of the room there is a blind that lets some light in. But it only lights up the opposite side. Maybe putting a darker shade on it??

Hmmm thinking about it, maybe if I have my lights come on when the sun is in that window it will help. Instead of when the sun is out of it? Does that make sense?

you can try a uv sterilyzer tho it is a rather pricy way to cure it.... mor plants is the best bet plants use up the nutrients before the algae can get it... and cut down your feeding

I posted a craigslist ad and got a couple willow branches.

So my tank is all willowed out and waiting to see if it helps

 did you buy willow branches?

Either way let us know how it goes, don't fogret the pics

No someone gave me some. Said if I needed more to just come and grab them, no need to call. It was a 30 min ride though
