An AC unit works basically the same as a dehumidifyer. Therefore the water should be just as safe as one or the other. I'm using two dehumidifiers right now since my apartment flooded due to the above average amount of rain fall. Thank God in heaven that Hurricane missed me! Off topic, but I live in Tampa, Florida just a few blocks from the Bay.

Memory fails me, does anyone remember the perameters of rain water???

I am not sure of PH being 6.0 because of pollution. Pollution makes rain more acidic. Rainwater itself is naturally a little acidic because of reactions with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This brings it down to 5.6. Are you just talking about the reaction with carbon dioxide?
