Air leak

I have an air leak somewhere in my return line from my MAG 7 in my wetdry sump. Anyone have an idea on how to find it!!!! I have about 4 fittings and one junction.
. Nothing has ever leaked until I took it apart the other day to clean it.

An air leak? Meaning, air is being sucked in? Wouldn't a leak in the return line actually leak water out?

Trying to understand the problem.

If there is a opening in a return it will suck air in and disperse it into the tank.
Thats what I have

So, by return, return to the tank, or return to the pump?


I'm imagining downstream of the pump, which case seems like it should be pumping water out. Upstream of the pump would have an airleak for sure.

Point is, if it's an air leak, look upstream of the pump for the leak. Unfortunately, leak testing a vacuum is difficult, I face that problem all the time, and really just have to tighten and retighten.

INTAKE is where the water comes into the pump. RETURN is where it goes out!

Are you sure it's a leak from the return, aka DOWNSTREAM, side?

My point is, on the RETURN side, it's positive pressure, so a "sucking" force isn't very likely. The INTAKE, aka upstream, side of the pump experiences positive displacement, aka vacuum, or "sucking", so if there is a leak there, it would be an air leak.

Is the pump submerged in the wetdry? If, then the only place a leak could come from is the downstream side, but if it's external to the sump, I'd look at the connections between the sump and the pump.

And, in the case where it's on the return side, tighten tighten tighten is the best advice since it's so hard to know exactly which joint is leaking.

It also could be a leak inside the pump, which would suck....pardon the pun.


Obviously, check the parts you disconnected first, since that's more than likely where the leak is.
