Air pump in the planted system??

I just started a planted tank; size about 10g and every thing is working fine now. The question is I have a air pump in my system as well, I heard from my friend said that it will drift off my CO2. Is that true? So should I removed it? Please help... thanks

Remove the airpump if you're injecting CO2, it doesn't matter if you're not injecting. An airpump usually isn't needed anyway, unless you have no surface agitation.

I use co2 during the day and air stone at night.

Use it at night if you have co2 injection. If you dont have co2 just make sure there is some turbulence of the top of the water (at all times) so that at least your co2 will be at equilibrium with the air, whether that’s from your filter or and air stone doesn’t matter to much on a small tank.

most takes dont need a air pump. i dont run them on any of mine. the only time a air pump is bad is if your adding co2.

if your not adding co2 a air pump is fine.

Now I got it, perhaps I add a hang power filter to make turbulence of the top of the water and remove the air pump... Thanks guys...

I have a timer that turns my air pump on when my lights go off, that way when the plants stop making oxygen, the fish have a bubbler to oxygenate the water.
