Air pump question

If I'm running a sponge filter in 4 5g tanks....can I use one air pump? How do I determine what size to get? I've read that they are sold based on water depth (= resistance?). So, if they are based on resistance...would I need to add the depths of all four tanks to find out what size pump to get or just get one rated for a 20g?

Yes, all you would need is one air pump and split the lines to each tank. I would probable purchase one that is rated for a little bit larger then the total gallons you intend on using it for.

Thanks ronw007, I was thinking of using the Azoo 5500...rated for 55g, is that too much? I will have baby fry in these tanks.

I think that pump should be more then ok, have not personally heard of that brand. You can control the amount of air going to each tank with bleeder valves.

yea sure that would be fine. prob can add a couple more tanks to it also.

I would use the largest one you can get for future expansion and be sure to place it above the tanks so you don't get a siphon going on a power loss.
