I'd like to get one just for the heck of it. Something like an M4. Then I could use the extra pieces I have from my real one on it. :D

Airsoft is only fun when you have an actual team(s) and have a good place to play. I used to play in a team that had a place to play in the mountains with lots of forest areas... The experience doesn't even compare to what paintball can offer. On the other hand its pretty hard finding a good team.

Its a lot more practical to play paintball since more people play it and there are more places to play. Everyone kind of does their own thing unless you're in a tournament match and even then there's a lot of independence.

I have to use airsoft, paintball, sim munitions, blue tip, blanks, and live ammo for work all the time. Yeah Airsoft looks cool and pretty accurate, however I found paintball to be more fun and harder for people to cheat at. I disagree with whoever said you get larger welts from airsoft than paintball. The airsoft pelet may be moving at a much greater speed, however there is little mass and the pelets can easily break. On bare skin you may get a sting but i would never say I've ever had a welt from airsoft.

Paintballs have much more mass and if the marker isn't chrono'd properly hill leave a real welt and possibly broken skin. Outside the pain factor, paintballs leave a visible mark making it harder to cheat.

The best by far is simunitions, however there are a few problems with this as well. First, you have to use real firearms. Second, some weapons tend to jam with the ammunition. Third, it's impossible to cheat if you get hit, even in combat body armor. Fourth, will leave a real mans welt on the arm, leg etc.

The largest problem I have with airsoft it the guns themselves. There is nothing standardized at all about the guns. some have gas, some electric, some spring, and they tend to be problematic in extreme weather conditions. I've even noticed a huge difference in high humidity.

Largest problem I have with paintball is clean up after.

i hear ya. although there are a few things i don't agree with.

"the pelets can easily break"

well, that depends on the size. with a high FPS a 0.12 G BB can break if it hits even a soft target but there are denser BB's than that. there is a 0.20 G and a 0.25 G weight. these tend to be a lot harder and are safeer for your gun.

the guns are actually standardized to a degree. each electric gun has a hop-up bucking,a gearbox, a motor (of course) ETC. and the different types of guns vary by your preference rather than whats really available. And i hate to say this but you guys probably werent using quality guns, and even if you were you probably didnt have any upgrades in 'em.

but once again its all up to you. i personally like airsoft because its a little more realistic than paintball and gets you just as active. sure any kid can sit on their A$* all day and play war video games and get obese then try to enlist and they cant pass the obstacle course or any physical tests for that matter because they didnt have goals. but it takes someone who really has determination to actually get into a sport to the point that they spend hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars on gear just to play. but its all up to you:)

We use military grade airsoft for training and they are much more durrable and reliable than most commercial grade. and we have tried even using store bought types. So we have used cheap and extremely expensive. I know people want the realism of real looking guns, snd to each their own. But, working with soldiers all day long and seeing the difference, paintball is a much better option for us. The only thing I likes about airsoft over paintball is the size and shappe of the guns.

agreed...military grade ones are like super high fps too and cost $1000+ so i geuss you were working with reletively good stuff
