Albino African Clawed Frogs...

I've Got two 5 inch ACF's. Ones colored and ones albino. They are fantastic. They love feeders and night crawlers. I hand feed mine. I lightly knock on the glass where i'm dangling the live food two or three times, and both come from where ever they are hiding to eat. They breed quite prolifically as well.
Love the pics:) i hope mine get as big as urs :D

Ive had convicts ranging from one inch to five with mine and he didnt do anything to them.

At the pet store mine was in with the dwarf frogs and trust me, it isnt any dwarf frog. They dont have albino ones.

I also dont agree that dwarf frogs can come albino. And I would not keep two of those albino frogs in a 20 G for long, that is too small. I would go with 40G if not 55G.
sorry, i don't have much exp. with ACFs... I just estimated how much room 2 full grown ones would need, which is, like, 4", right? and all the ones i've seen are fairly sedentary.

Its not size that matters cause i have a couple sae in there that are less that 2 inch, it's speed. The frogs will eat anything they can fit in their mouth, it may not all be able to fit it all down but if it starts to go down, its supper. If they can't catch it, they can't eat it. Another key is to keep them well fed. A full frog will float and laze about, a hungry frog will lie in ambush and swipe at everything that passes, no matter how big or small

My AFC's are 2 yrs old. They didn't start getting big till they were in a 55 gallon tank. They have tripled in size since. The more space they have the bigger/faster they grow. In addition the larger the tank the better chances the other inhabitants have of survival, to a large AFC, everything is food

I've got 2 albino ACF's and of the two (ACF's and ADF's) I'd say the ACF's are by far the more interesting frogs. They like places to hide and appreciate some general cover from any aquarium lighting. Aparently various people/websites will tell you these guys have to be in still water otherwise its like a jack hammer going off in thier heads, I'm personally of the opinion this is rubbish and mine are quite happy with m,y internal Fluval 2 filter. As for tank size a good size guide is about 10g per frog.

As for compatable fish, well thats a tough one and its a bit of trual and error, the best bet is to not put any fish in their, but I've got my 2 ACF's in with 3 cory cats, which are neither fast nor big and they've never been eaten. As I understand it corys have tiny spines so I think that possibly takes them off the dinner list.

They'll happily eat anything meaty, any kind of frozen worm or shrimp is happily accepted. Flakes and freeze dried food tend to be less appealling to the extent they;'ll hardly touch it.

However they are really tough frogs, maybe I care for mine too good but they've never got ill or any kind of disease and as I understand it their skin has properties in it which just aboutg makes them invunerable to most bacterial and fungal infections. I know they can get illnesses but personally speaking mine seem to be part armourred tank and they just always seem to do well.

Hand feeding is fun if you can teach them to do it and quite frankly their cool frogs and a pleasure to own, incidently mine have been known to croak when the light is off so I guess thats another sign their happy and trying to pull the girls, who knows.

Happy Frogging

You can usually find them at Walmart.

i got 4 acf's and they need roughly 10g a frog to live comfotably. Also they should never be kept singulary. they should always be kept inn pairs or more..this is why ure frog is jumping out of the tank and i think u will find that if u introduce another frog to the tank he will stop jumpin out. they are very social creatures and hate being alone ...other fish are not a substitute for another frog also keeping more than one will help ure frogs to be vocal. at night my male frogs will "sing" to the females and the females respond with a fast click or slow cick to welcome or disprove of the males advances to her by singing. they are great pets and mine love a cuddle and a stoke and also love being hand fed. also its quite nice to see them cuddleing each other...the males will come from behind the female and clasp her and sit there for hours just "spooning" however when u see them do this then followed by a few summersaults in the water then be prepared for some spawn and babies to folow. i would recomend quarranteening the spawn if u want the poles to survive ;)

i have a small one and its right what they said its not size its speed cause there is a small feeder guppy in the tank with mine and its fine and alive and well yet i have three blind caves in the tank and it ate the smallest one just the other day. They are fun to watch them eat pellets, they fling there hands around and shove food in their face, imagine the cookie monster but in a frog.
