Hi

I got a new Albino Catfish for my tank and he just won't stop swimming irradically around the back of the tank, he has even tried to jump out of the water once! I have two ther catfish in there and they are fine, none of the other fish have been hurting or annoying him.

Do you think he will calm down or what?

What type of 'albino catfish' are we talking about here? How large is the tank?
Sometimes new fish are a little crazy for a few days and then settle down. If it's a catfish that needs a hiding spot (like a pleco), make sure it's got somewhere to call home. If it's an albino cory, does it have company or is it the only one? They need to be in groups to feel secure. If it's an albino channel catfish and your tank is under 100g, take it back!
It's hard to help without much information. I hope he's settled down - if not, just post as much info as you can and hopefully you'll get the advice you need.

I'd say just give him a few days to settle down and find himself a hiding spot. Mine freaked out and splashed around like crazy for a few days until he found the cave in the corner, empty and waiting for him. Just be patient. Some fish take a while to get comfortable. I moved a pleco from one tank to another and it took him maybe 15 minutes to become himself again. But when I moved my discus, he hid out by a rock for about 2 and a half weeks before he suddenly was back to his old self.

Activity

I just bought 5 albinos and 2 didnt make it after the first day the other three are fine now but there swimming just like yours are back and forth sometimes together sometimes alone. I look at the tanks at night time and there just as active going back and forth, I personally think its the space from the 55 gal put a zap on there heads actually being able to swim instead of being crammed in the tank that they were in at the store they seem happy active and are eating thats the main thing though hope yours
make it...woops i just read that you had catfish not cories doh well good luck anyways .
